The magic number of the Flying Mom (english version)

Posted bydottoressa Gabriella Regis - nutrizionista Babyrun on 09.28.17

Three children in a stroller. Three records achieved within three months, the last one obtained breaking her previous record by exactly three minutes.

No doubt that three is the magic number for Theresa Marie Pitts. Which goals is still capable of achieving this extraordinary woman remains a mistery. For the millions of moms who follow her from all over the planet; and maybe even for her.

Theresa Marie Pitts: a record mom

Some weeks ago, Babyrun had the great pleasure and honor to interview Theresa Marie Pitts (CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL INTERVIEW): an American mom from Kalispell, a small town in Montana, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.

Apart from being a mother to eight children, Theresa Marie is a woman like so many others, but with an extra march: strength of mind, determination, mental before even physical energy, which has brought her to achieve unbelievable records, such as those of the fastest half marathon and the fastest marathon pushing a triple stroller by a woman. A stroller with its 3 younger children: Evan (4 years), Anders (2 years) and Avrielle (7 months).

You got it right. In the competitions she takes part in, Theresa Marie not only pushes three kids in a stroller (we are talking about a total weight of nearly 150 lbs)! But it does it for 21 or 42 kilometers, at a rhythm so far unbearable for any other woman in the world.

So, in the absence of rivals, in recent days the flying mom tried to challenge herself, trying again a new record on the distance of the half marathon.

Do you wonder if she will be successful? Let’s find out with her.

A new record as the fastest woman pushing a triple stroller during a half marathon

Theresa had set the previous record as the fastest woman pushing a triple stroller in a half marathon during the Governor’s Cup, held in June in Montana. A difficult and challenging race, which takes place on long stretches of hill roads, with several miles being dirt or gravel road. Then, Theresa was able to cross the finish line in 2:01:11.

Nothing wrong, really! However, not yet enough for one like her, who besides being a mom and homemaker, likes to race in triathlon and in hurdles. Her motto is “Do not let the obstacles stop you: knock it off!”

So on Sunday 17 September, Theresa and her small team decided to try again, running the half-marathon of Billings, Montana. And the challenge has turned into victory: Mom and her children crossed the finish line in 1:57:49.

“I was surprised by the exact 3-minute beat of my previous record with my 3 babies - says Theresa Marie -. And I achieved the third record over three months!!!”.

Theresa Marie Pitts: beyond the race, the solidarity

Theresa, however, is not “only” a mom and a runner. She is a person who, through the running, loves to get in touch with her most intimate side; a woman who lives her spirituality even by running. An unshakable faith, translated into a solidarity campaign just announced on the eve of Billings’ race.

“Friends – she wrote on her Fb page - I am dedicating my next triple-stroller run in Billings, MT to the victims of the hurricanes and fires. My prayer and main focus this time is to share hope with those who are suffering and to serve as a reminder that in order to see the rainbow, we must first feel the rain”.

Then, she continued saying “Since most of us can’t physically be there to help, let’s do what we can from afar. For every mile I run with my littles (13.1 total) I hope others will donate $1 through KULR8, American Red Cross, or another favorite charity. These are our brothers and sisters who we share this beautiful world with and EVERY dollar helps. I love you and Thank you”.

The hope message of Theresa Marie Pitts

Another sport performance that will remain imprinted in history. A solidarity campaign. A concrete donation. But behind the new record of Theresa Marie there is much more. There is the “take home message” that the flying mother wanted to leave to her children and to anyone who knows her and follows her.

“It is not necessary to carry out titanic enterprises. Just do something. When we are all pitching in and doing our own small part, our efforts add up. And you and I really can make a difference!”

Perhaps, the magic of this record, rather than in the cabala, is to be sought in the woman’s positivity that has made it!
